Abstract The rapid expansion of e-commerce, with many online retailers adopting free return policies to attract customers, has significantly increased the importance of reverse logistics. However, this also burdens companies with higher logistics costs and accelerates environmental pollution due to frequent transportation. This study proposes a citizen-participatory crowdsourcing return logistics system to improve the flexibility and speed of reverse logistics. By designating shared bicycle users as crowdsourcing participants, the system aims to reduce large-scale vehicle transportation and address environmental issues. Additionally, through sensitivity analysis, factors affecting the system's completion rate and the additional driving distance by crowdsourcing participants were analyzed, and suggestions for future improvements were presented. Moreover, the system offers low-income individuals the opportunity to use shared bicycles for free, ensuring fairness in public transportation and contributing to the establishment of a sustainable logistics ecosystem.
